Using iFunbox to add .ipa files?

go to the folders located on your iphone or ipod touch /var/mobile/Library/Downloads

click or double click on downloads and drag and drop your ipa files

Ok I have the GTA ipa file in /var/mobile/Library/Downloads. It does not show up anywhere except in the download section of Installous and it will not install from there, it freezes up on installation.

Not sure why it wont work that way for you Gandalf, I installed it that way (and used installous to actually install) on Bex's iPhone and it worked with no lock ups :S.

Nope, Im not much help but, it does work that way I can confirm that much, the ipa I used does anyway.

I give up and dl the one you used using my iPhone and let it install from there.


Update: After downloading with the phone and telling it to install it still locks up at the decompressing archive part of the install. Not just my phone but I tried on another and got the same results.

Nope, Im not much help but, it does work that way I can confirm that much, the ipa I used does anyway.

I didn't use installous, I just drag and dropped and it was there :S

Really? That's supposed to be the Installous download location. But yeah, did it with Installous for me instead of me getting my lappy out or downloading through the iphone. Gandalf, mine "did" that as well. It stayed at decompressing for ages, much longer than usual....but I just left it to the side and went back a couple mins later, 5 mins at the most and it just showed the downloads/files again, so went back to the homescreen and scrolled to the end and it was there and works like a charm :D.

no joke, I went through the folders, dragged it, dropped it, watche it copy in a few seconds and VOILA!!!!

Do I have a mutant iphone?

You have a mutant phone Momma....lol. I'll set it aside for a little bit longer but I figured about 5 minutes was long enough.



Update: It took 7 minutes for it to install, the first time I tried it my iPhone completely locked and couldn't get it to reboot, finally had to hook up to my PC and run blackra1n to get it back to running. I think that it was because about the time it was finishing install Momma sent me a text and that is when the phone locked up. All better now, reboot is fine now and the game is installed but not by just draging the ipa file to the folder I had to install thru Installous.

I want to know how Momma Bear did that lol. Installing with installous was quick but drag and drop would be better :P.

I think that she might have iTunes set to sync apps and it picks up on that ipa file without putting it into iTunes and it installed it without her knowing, as I can find no rhyme or reason as to why that should work. It would be like putting a program installation file onto your PC and expecting it to be there and run without installing.

I don't have iTunes to auto sync, nor does it open when I plug it in. I also didn't have it open when I dragged and dropped. Imma try again with summin else tomorrow or Saturday.

That was the only thing I could think of. I tried it on 3 different phones and a Touch and it's all the same you have to go to Installous to install.

Okay so I just transferred sims 3 to my iphone drag and drop and instant play.....maybe I did something to my phone when I was messing with it and adding siources and deleting them. This is really weird.

hey momma bear...i just downloaded a cracked .ipa file that i wanted...used ifunbox and pasted that file to /var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads (provided that i already had installous in my ipod4...then i opened installous tapped the downloads tab and there was my .ipa file.i tapped it and installed....and all this was possible because or ur help so thanx..by the way why do u hide ur face momma...it would be great if i could see ur face
