For my 500th post I thought I'd post up some valuable information that really improved my PC gaming experience
So to my fellow PC gamers, whom like me tire from playing platform, fighting, adventure type games with a mouse and keyboard i have a solution for you that will improve your gaming experience.
The ability to connect a PS3 SixAxis or DS3 controller to your computer to act just like a standard gamepad.
The steps i will show you have been perfected to get the best possible performance, from a variety of different methods i have tried this is by the far the easiest and most responsive there is.
1. Download MotioninJoy's DS3 Tool (http://www.motioninjoy.com/download)
2. Install MotioninJoy DS3 Tool
64 bit users only!
2.1. Restart Computer
2.2 Continuously Tap F8 whilst computer is booting up
2.3 'Advanced Boot Options' Screen should appear
2.4 Select "Disable Driver Specific Enforcement"
2.5 Press Enter
3. Plug in your controller via the USB cord provided on purchases
4. Wait for the default drivers to install
5. Go to Start > All Programs > MotioninJoy
6. Find 'Install USB Driver'
7. Right Click and select 'Run as Administrator'
8. Command Prompt window will appear, wait for that to complete
(If Prompted by windows with Alert "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software" Select "Install this driver software anyway"
9. NotePad document should open with the last line saying "SUCCESS..."
Test's to ensure everything has worked thus far
9.1. PS3 controller's, controller 1 light should be on.
9.2. Go to 'Game Controllers' either through Control Panel (XP, Vista) or type it into the search option in 'Start' (win7)
9.3. Should see "MotioninJoy USB Game Controller"
10. Go to Start > MotioninJoy > DS3 Tool
11. Select "No" when prompted to update
12. Program should indicate a controller connected
13. Change the mode to "Analog Gamepad 1 (POV, triggers)
14. Check "Vibration On"
15. Go to Options
16. Uncheck all the option in "DS3 Tool Option" Section
17. Close Program. All Done
Now what this will do is allow you to use the PS3 control as a game pad, before you start to play a game though the keys still need to be mapped to corresponded with the right commands.
Now I've only done this with Street Fighter 4 which is the following,

Just select "Control Settings" on the autorun window, change the controller to "MotioninJoy USB Game Controller and Map the keys accordingly. Or just select the option and press the button you want on the controller.
Street Fighter 4 is actually designed with use of the Xbox 360 controller, so there menu prompts will display Xbox 360 controller buttons, as with a fair few game for PC, more so 'Games for Windows' branded.
The Last Remnant and Prince of Persia 4 i recommend you get an Xbox 360 wired controller or the Windows 360 wireless controller (Not the Xbox 360 Wireless!! It wont work) Games like these are programmed with prompts for actions displaying the actual buttons of the 360 controller during game play.
For games that don’t give you the option to use a controller, you can download Xpadder (http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Xpadder.shtml) Which simulates keyboard keys and mouse movements. Perfect for Far Cry 2, CoD4 etc
I have not tested it, nor do i intend to as most games i use a controller for have the option built in.
Then games such as Devil May Cry 4 and Overlord, from memory don’t have on-screen prompts but are better suited to use with a controller, these is where personal preference comes into play.
Personally I’m a fan of smaller controllers, and PS3 controller feels more comfortable. That is why i went through the trouble of working out how to connect and use it, then write this guide. I have also set myself up like this in anticipation for Assassins Creed 2, as i owned the first on PS3 and the controls were so fluid.
So to some up, a solid PC gamer will need a controller to expand their gaming choice. I highly recommend you grab a wired Xbox 360 Controller or the Windows specific Wireless 360 controller as a portion of PC games play better with a controller. I did for Devil May Cry 4, and have used it for Prince of Persia, The Last Remnant, Overlord 2, Street Fighter 4 (Although i like the PS3 controller better for this game) and Prototype.
And those like me who have the option, and prefer the PS3 controller over the 360 one, then give this option a try.
I will be updating this when i work out the kinks for Bluetooth, so the PS3 controller can be used wirelessly which will be an added bonus.
Any questions, or help please feel free to post, pm or email me.
