Pandora Battery:How to Hardmod a Slim Battery Safely How to Hardmod a Slim Battery Safely [Guide] Making a Slim Battery into Pandora Battery(Hardmod)
The key to success on this is PATIENCE and TAKING YOUR TIME.
Warning: There is risk of severe burns and possible fire or explosion if the internal battery cell is punctured.

Materials List:

Small sharp knife(eg. X-acto knife, hobby knife, box cutter)

Small screwdriver

Small, thin, but tough, non-conductive piece for prying(eg. guitar pick)

Regular pencil

1200 mah Slim battery

Notice the line that goes around the perimeter of the battery, this is where the 2 halves come together and where we will cut.

Take the small knife and start scoring around the sides along the line, not heavy pressure but enough force to cut a small line in the plastic. Continue with this for many passes, probably 10 to 20, cutting a little deeper with each cut. Be sure not to enter into the battery at any time with the knife more than a couple of millimeters.

After a good scored line has been cut, try to insert the screwdriver into one of the long sides of the battery. Not too deep just enough to separate the plastic a little and get a crack started.

Once you have a little separation started use the guitar pick or other firm non conductive material to gently pry the case open. If it is not cooperating you may need to score the sides more to help with the case separation.

This is what you will have once you get the case open and the circuit board flipped over.

In the zoomed in part of the above pic the is a red circle saying to cut here. Take the knife and make as small of a cut as possible across that silver line in the middle of the circle. Make sure that it is deep enough to sever the entire strip, but as narrow as possible.

The battery should now be in service mode. Fold the circuit board back into position and put the 2 halves back together using some tape to hold the battery together.

To test:

Remove any memory stick from the PSP and place battery into PSP. Without touching the power switch the power light should come on by itself, the screen will be black. If this happens you now have a Pandora Battery for the slim, by the way this Pandora Battery will not work on a Phat as Slim batteries will not power a Phat.

While the battery is in service mode(Pandora) it will not work as a regular battery. To start up the PSP you will have to plug in the AC adapter first and start the PSP up then insert the battery.

To convert the battery back to normal mode simply take a regular pencil and rub across the cut that you made in the line filling the gap in with pencil lead(pencil lead is conductive and completes the circuit reversing what you just did). If you need it to be Pandora again just erase the pencil lead from the gap and it's back into service mode.

This will work for most all the older batteries but the new ones are not able to be converted to pandora.

Any good alternates? Can't think of anything thinner than a guitar pick. It's not present in the house I'm living in at the moment. :(

can you show more pictures about the cutting at the sides of the battery?
I'm gonna do a hardmod, nobody has a MoBo of TA-088v1[SLIM] in our place

Be sure not to enter into the battery at any time with the knife more than a couple of millimeters.

Where is this battery found? The small black rectangled shape near where I'm supposed to cut it? What happens if I exceeded more than a couple of mm?

Can you show me a picture of this one? I think I'm gonna break the plastic XD
I'm gonna use the one with the chisel like tip right?

What's with the red rectangle near the battery cell?

An alternative to a guitar pick is anything that is thin but strong and preferably non conductive. A small screw driver is usable but be careful.

When you look at the sides of the battery you will see a line that is where the 2 halves come together. That is where you take the knife and lightly cut several times down the line on all 4 sides. This can take as many as 30 to 50 times across each line cutting a little bit deeper each time. To be done safely you must take your time and don't get in a hurry. Impatience is the enemy here, it took me about an hour to get mine open but there were no broke cases, punctured battery cells, or cut fingers.

The battery cell is a large silver block inside the case, if you cut too deep you can puncture the cell and it will cause it to heat up and a slight chance of it catching fire, in either case the battery will be useless then.

If you take your time you can cut the case deep enough that you can use your finger nails to get it apart, here again take your time.

The red square is nothing that pic came from somewhere else and I added the cut line on it but could not figure out how to get the square off of the pic.
