Sony has unveiled the much awaited premium subscription service for the PS 3, the PlayStation Network (PSN) Plus. Sony made the announcement at E3, the ongoing gaming Expo in Los Angeles.
As a part of the promotions, Sony is offering PSN Plus on a 3 month free trial. With PSN Plus, users can access exclusive content like demos and free content ranging from themes to Minis. Firmware updates will also be available.

The service will cost $49.99 for 12 months and $17.99 for 3 months. To popularize its new service, Sony has promised subscribers four free game downloads every month which include one PSN game, two PlayStation Minis and one classic PSOne game. The first sets of titles to be made available are Wipeout HD, Rally Cross, Age of Zombies and Fieldrunners.
The PSN Plus service will start from June 29th. PS3 users who subscribe before the 3rd of August will receive a free download of the popular title, LittleBigPlanet.
The only drawback is that users will be able to access the content only till the subscription lasts. After the subscription expires or is cancelled, users will not be able to access the downloaded content.

According to a source at Engadget someone has completed a survey where has completed a survey for Sony which details services planned for the non-compulsory ‘premium’ PlayStation Network package confirmed by Kaz Hirai.
I would think that PS3 owners who have had the service for free might be disinclined to pay for PSN services, the new scheme does boast an extensive number of new and appealing features. Extended console warranty, beta access, cross-game voice chat, loyalty programs and free access to PSOne Classics.
Again, nothing has been confirmed but it’s a possibility that this could all come about very soon for you PS3′ers.

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this news. I played the first game and there is nothing more satisfying than starting out as Darth Vader and being able to use the death grip. Prepare for another third-person action adventure set in the Star Wars universe.
Details from Lucas Arts about the game:
“With Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, the epic story continues as players once again assume the role of the devastatingly powerful Starkiller – Darth Vader’s secret apprentice set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
“Executive Producer Haden Blackman and his team have been able to build on the core foundation of the award-winning original and create a powerful combination of engrossing story-telling and intense action. The Force Unleashed II gives fans an opportunity to wreak havoc on an even greater scale in the Star Wars universe,” said LucasArts’ President Darrell Rodriguez.”
Visit the official website of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II at www.unleashed2010.com and sign-up for updates. A trailer will be posted on the website on Monday, December 14th.
I will be purchasing this game on release.

Developers are lining up around the block to take a crack at the new control methods including Ubisoft. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in an earnings call :
the company would have, barring possible changes in timing, 10 games available for Natal within the first six months of its release. He also said that they’d have 4-5 games for Sony’s motion controller.
I’m excited for Natal and intrigued to see how it’s going to play out with gaming. With the right price and proper use for games, I would buy it.

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed II has sold 1.6 million copies in its first week of release worldwide.
This number is not surprising due to the critical reception and internet buzz surrounding the November 17th release. If you compare these numbers to the previous Assassin’s Creed game release, Assassin’s Creed II is up 32% in sales.
I played it and finished it and I will be eagerly awaiting the third installment, even though nothing has been said yet.
